Hammock World is offering a FREE Hammock Repair Service for our ‘sprang woven' Hammocks, as a gesture of gratitude to our past and future clients - please contact us for more details.
New Zealand’s premier hammock business, was conceived in 1997 and originally named The Hammock Chair. In 2001 we evolved into Hammock World and set about designing and developing a therapeutic Reclining Hammock Chair with Free Standing Support Stand, and in 2003 received a Telecom Award "in recognition of being a leading inspirational home business in NZ".
In those days all hammocks were made from cotton for indoor use, and we appreciated the need for ‘outdoor' hammocks to be covered by a 5-year ‘minimum’ Warranty against mildew, rot and rust, otherwise hammocks should not be considered as ‘outdoor’ furniture!
Hammocks were originally developed by the indigenous peoples in Central and South America as indoor furniture, so we set about sourcing a manufacture who would work with us to achieve our objective. For almost 20 years we have been using a robust fibre know as Mayan Silk for our outdoor hammocks, in combination with Sprang weaving, an ancient indigenous body-hugging weaving technique.
Today we are proud to state that 50% of our business comes from return customers or referrals from previous customers, and this is the best business accolade we could receive. From our original vision in 1997 our “All Weather” Mayan Silk Hammocks such as our Outdoor Hammock Chair have stood the test of time!
Hammock World specialises in Outdoor Furniture that is guaranteed to resist mildew, rot and rust. Above all, our outdoor furniture is designed to look great even after many years exposure to sunlight (UV) and rain. By combining durable materials with superb craftsmanship you will experience the ultimate outdoor/indoor relaxation experience.
Our Mayan Hammocks are hand-woven by adult artisans in a cottage industry environment to our fibre and colour specification, using genuine nylon called mayan silk. Hammock World nylon hammocks are exceptionally strong and durable. As a result they give good resistance to abrasion and UV exposure and will outlast all other inferior synthetic fibres, including cotton plant fibre by up to 4-5 times.
Having purchased one of your original Stainless Hammock Stands, which is still in it’s original mirror-bright condition as when we bought it, it’s absolutely amazing. I only had to contact you after approx 16 years to replace the Hammock Chair netting, because it had faded slightly, yet it was still strong, just wanted to freshen it up. Your response was impeccable, and nothing was a burden to you, in fact delightful - very much appreciated!
My husband is a perfectionist, and he’s saying it is the best engineered Hammock Stand he’s ever seen. Laurence says it’s the top grade stainless your product is made with, which is it's biggest asset - it’s so durable it's unbelievable, and will last a lifetime! Once again many thanks for your professional service and most of all for being a sincere person - your honesty we cannot fault.
